'Surprising' Local The Petite Soufriere Village Jing Ping Band : cultural music
Uniquely comprising 3 generations of the Alie family. The patriarch and leader of the band, Isma Alie, plays the accordian; his sone James plays Tambu (goat skinned drum) ; and grandson Jackson plays 'Boom Boom' (bass).Good friend Lordwill Bunney rounds out the group on the 'Shack shack' (percussion). The band has played by invitattion for the President of Domninica, Dr. Nicholas J. Liverpool, and was awarded Dominica's most prestigous award; The Golden Drum Award in 2007. They have entertained in VAncouver, Canada, and Texas and floriuda in the U.S.A.
